LGBT Cymru helpline at World Mental Health Day 2016
LGBT Cymru helpline at World Mental Health Day event 2016 held at the Grand Theatre Swansea. Our 6th year supporting this event a very well attended event. An excellent networking opportunity raising awareness of agencies within the Swansea area. This is one of our volunteers being interviewed for a local TV channel.

LGBT Cymru helpline at World Mental Health Day 2015
LGBT Cymru helpline at World Mental Health Day 2015 held at the Grand Theater Swansea. a very well attended event. This was our 5th year at this event. An excellent networking opportunity raising awareness of agencies within the Swansea area.
LGBT Cymru Helpline will be at the LGBT Awareness event in Llanelli Town Centre 13th August 2015 10.00-2.00.
Come along and show that Llanelli is a tolerant and equal Town. Show your support for local Lesbian, Gay, Bisexuals & Transgenders (LGBT).
On the day there will be various organisations on hand to promote their services.
Helping to entertain the crowds on the day will be Corrin Casini from the Honeybuns as seen on Britain’s Got Talent, local folk singer Gareth Cornfield, a face painter and a visit from 2 minions for the children.
Also in attendance will be some of the cast and crew from ‘Boy meets Boy’. This was the first Gay programme set and filmed around Llanelli and showcased the Gay Llanelli dating scene.

Swansea LGBT Youth Group “Goodvibes”
Swansea LGBT Youth Group “Goodvibes” put on a healthy eating event at Swansea YMCA 2th March 2014, to allow members of the group to taste “healthy option” foods they might not have tried or thought of before. The event was a great success and the group will be visiting a local restaurant that offers vegan and vegetarian options in the near future.

LGBT Cymru Helpline and Counselling Service at Neath College Health & Well-being Day 27th March 2014.
A well attended day, with students taking a keen interest in the information on offer. The event also provided a great opportunity to exchange information and contact details with other agencies. All in all all, the event was a great success.

LGBT Youth Launch Party!
We are proud to announce the launch of the new LGBT Youth Group Drop In, in partnership with The City and County of Swansea, Swansea YMCA, LGBT Cymru Helpline and The South Wales Police on 22nd February 2014 at the YMCA Swansea.

Shelter Cymru LGBT Housing Helpline at the Senedd Dec 2013
LGBT Cymru Helpline showing support at the Senedd earlier today. Shelter Cymru LGBT Housing Helpline hosted an event to highlight Shelter Cymru’s dedicated housing helpline for members of the LGBT community at the Senedd, the National Assembly for Wales, Cardiff Bay, on Thursday 5th December 2013. A SPARKLING event to promote the transgender community has taken place for the second year running.
Tawe Butterflies teamed up with other agencies to hold the Sparkle event at Swansea YMCA.
The organisers aimed to promote equality and diversity in the local area.
The group, set up five years ago by Sadie of Tawe Butterflys, himself a transvestite, who wanted to help other transgender people but also to educate the general public and offer a safe space for those across South Wales.

LGBT Cymru Helpline and Counselling Service attended the National Mental Health Day event held at the Grand Theatre Swansea. The aim of the day was to bring everyone together to raise awareness of all the agencies that offer support to people who suffer with mental health problems in the Swansea area.
LGBT Cymru Helpline and Counselling Service offer support, information via a free phone helpline nationally (mainly Wales), and a face to face counselling service in the Swansea area, it is hoped that this service will be widened to other areas as funds become available. The helpline also offers Counselling, information, and support via Telephone, Skype, Instant messaging and text. Oct 10th 2013

LGBT Cymru Helpline joins the Swansea LGBT Forum.
LGBT Cymru Helpline recently joined the Swansea LGBT Forum, a group that meets on a bi-monthly basis at various locations to discuss issues that affect the LGBT community in the Swansea Bay area.The forum was launched in February 2012 and has attracted many different LGBT+ and LGBT+ friendly organisations which also include the local council, police and now Swansea University Students’ Union. The aim of the forum is to engage and improve services for LGB and T communities across Swansea Bay, by allowing those who work in the field of LGB and T organisations to network, meet up and discuss their work, problems and accomplishments across the Swansea Bay area.
Becki Warrillow, Womens Officer at Swansea University says: The creation of the forum has enabled organisations such as Swansea Pride, Tawe Butterflies, STONEWALL, UNITY and many more work together and expand their knowledge and experiences to make Swansea a more LGBT+ friendly and safer community. A positive outcome to these meetings are not only gaining connections and working more closely with each other but, it also gives allows people to discuss issues such as hate crime and how to work together as a community to prevent it are discussed, youth projects, and other serious issues.
In addition to discussing how to tackle safety issues and networking, it is also a way to plan how the different organisations can work together, to celebrate the work and accomplishments of each other and how awareness days can be celebrated with the involvement of each other’s support.
It was great to see such a good turnout at the forum that was hosted in JC’s and welcoming everyone into our union; and for some, welcoming them back. The Students’ Union is also looking forward to being further involved with the forum and working closely with the different organisations in the future.
